"CUBA WILL NEVER BE INDEPENDENT" (1896)

This statement was made by then Spain PM, Mr. Antonio Canovas del Castillo. 

Two years later, Cuba was independent, thanks to the Treaty of Paris.

Recently, current Spanish PM, Mr. Mariano Rajoy, said "There won't be Independence of Catalonia"
