SECOND CATALAN POLICE OFFICER KILLED IN A MONTH

On January 31st, a Catalan Police (Mossos d'Esquadra) Officer was killed in a hit-and-run incident. This was the second Catalan Police Officer killed in action. On December 31st, 2014, another police officer was also killed in a traffic control.

Both events took place in the middle of a full-spectrum media and political offensive carried out by unionist media outlets and political parties against the Independence of Catalonia. One of the key targets of this is to de-legitimize Mossos d'Esquadra, a body under the orders of Catalonia Government, headed by President Artur Mas, supporting Independence. Spaniards want to snatch it and put it under Madrid Government control in order to use it as repressive body against pro-independence supporters, the case may be.

Mossos d'Esquadra, a 17.000 officers strong body, are permanently targeted in social media, and negative news about them are disseminated regularly and professionally, trying to frame an atmosphere opposite to them.

This time, a Spanish Soldier
To make things worst, once arrested, the hit-and-run driver, turn out to be a professional spanish soldier, 24. In the last weeks, spanish soldiers have been involved in a number of incidents related to the process towards Catalonia Independence, such as attacking Catalonia flags, maneuvering in public places obstructing citizens daily life, and so on.
President Mas and Lieutenant General Alvarez
Top military commander in Catalonia, Lieutenant-General Ricardo Alvarez Espejo recently caused a controversy when he proposed to open a Military Museum in Barcelona in order to reinforce the  links between the Army and the Catalans. The idea was firmly rejected by Barcelona City Council.

Former President of Catalonia, Mr. Lluís Companys, was extradited from occupied France by nazi Gestapo to Spain, court-martialed, condemned by a Military Court and executed by Spanish military units on October, 15th, 1940. No apology has been given so far.
